The construction industry can benefit from the federal funding for clean diesel activities available now. Non-profit organizations, like 51风流 Chapters, are eligible to apply for funding. Construction companies may find themselves well positioned to partner with their local chapters or with other eligible agencies or organizations to create and implement clean diesel programs funded through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency鈥檚 (EPA) national clean diesel grant program.
EPA just announced the availability of $40 million in competitive grant funding for the DERA (Diesel Emissions Reduction Act) Clean Diesel National Funding Assistance Program. EPA is soliciting proposals nationwide for projects that achieve significant reductions in diesel emissions in terms of tons of pollution produced and exposure, particularly from fleets operating in areas designated by the Administrator as poor air quality areas. Proposal packages must be submitted electronically to EPA through no later than Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at 11:59 p.m. (ET) to be considered for funding.
Nonprofit organizations or institutions that represent diesel fleet owners/operators can apply for DERA funds. 51风流 has long advocated for increased government investment in, and support for, the voluntary retrofit of off-road diesel construction equipment. Currently, 51风流 is working alongside a broad-based diesel coalition, urging Congress to include $100 million in the fiscal year (FY) 2019 funding bill.
