New Checklist Available to Help Contractors Assess Compliance with OFCCP鈥檚 Disability Rule

The U.S. Department of Labor鈥檚 Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) recently made available on its website a with Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, a law requiring that federal contractors take affirmative action and do not discriminate against individuals with disabilities.  The new tool was created to help contractors assess their compliance with the regulations that govern the law. 

The Checklist was developed by the Department of Labor鈥檚 Office of Disability Employment Policy in coordination with OFCCP.  Contractors are not required to use the Checklist, and using the Checklist does not ensure compliance with the Section 503 regulations. However, using the Checklist may help contractors enhance their awareness of its affirmative action obligations regarding individuals with disabilities and alert them to potential compliance problems.
